1968 Ford Mustang

In 1968 the 427-cid big-block race engine was added, dubbed the Cobra V-8. The 427 boosted horsepower yet again to 390. However by April 1st 1968 the 427-cid was eliminated from the options line up and replaced with the cheaper 428-cid Cobra-Jet. The 428 was rated at 335hp but is estimated to have put out nearly 400.
