2015 Dodge Charger

Is Dodge taking a step backwards with the 2015 Charger’s styling?

With the recent New York International Auto Show Dodge revealed the 2015 model revisions of the Charger. The profile sheet metal stays nearly identical to the outgoing models, however, the front and rear fascias are drastically different.

Many commenters have compare the new Charger front fascia to the Dart and Avenger models. The hood scallops are gone and the headlights are narrower and less menacing. To me this is a step backward in design, moving the vehicle into a more conservative styling. Head designer Joe Dehner claims that they had redesigned nearly every panel besides the rear doors and roof.

Joe Dehner: “These substantial updates make the new Charger what we call in design terms more ‘aero-dramatic.’”

The rear fascia moves to race track tail lamp design is now nearly identical to the Dart.

What’s your opinion on the design change? Do you like it or hate it? I’m not sure if it will grow on me or not. It would have been cool if they adopted a recessed style grille close to the first generation.
